Meet some of the herbs...
Hawthorn: A member of the rose family, hawthorn has a long storied history and shines as an herb for balancing the emotional & physical aspects of the heart. Hawthorn helps open the heart to giving and receiving love, and can help in healing heartache. She encourages self-love and self-acceptance. As with many thorn bearing, heart-acting energy remedies, hawthorn helps one to develop courage. The very etymology of the word courage draws our attention to the heart: cor is Latin for heart. And courage is truly an open-hearted state. Hawthorn reminds us to keep our head held high and the importance of practicing self-love-an ally for helping one come into their strength and power. Physically, hawthorn is a trophoresorative for the heart and circulatory system. The berries are rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds. In Chinese medicine, the heart is the emperor of the body and houses the shen (spirit). Hawthorn is a wonderful herb to support the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the heart.
Albizia: Also known as, He Huan Pi, directly translates to "collective happiness bark". In TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), albizia is in the category "Nourish the Heart & Calm the Spirit". In Chinese medicine, the heart is the emperor of the body and houses the shen (spirit). Therefore, albizia helps ease disturbances of the spirit. Symptoms of disturbed shen can include anxiety, palpitations, irritability, insomnia, and nightmares. Albizia promotes relaxation, supports replenishing sleep, and helps one release constraint/repressed emotions-making room for joy.
Passionflower, Skullcap, and Blue Vervain: This is a power trio for calming the mind & relaxing the body. These are some of my favorite herbs for slowing down cyclical thinking and a racing thoughts-helping the spirit become centered & grounded. All of these flowers boast beautiful purple flowers, opening our crown chakra for connection & inspiration.
Damiana: I love using damiana in blends because of its profound ability to clear the head, relax the body, and promote joy. For these reasons, it's easy to see why this herb is often classified as an "aphrodisiac". Feeling a little out of sorts? Grumpy? Frusterated? Damiana softens edges, lifts the spirit, and promotes inner peace.
